Summer Camp News from Adirondack Woodcraft Camps

Hi Woodcrafters!
Second Session is in full swing and we’re living the summer camp dream at Adirondack Woodcraft Camps. It was so great to meet our new campers and to welcome our full session campers back to camp! Sunny skies made for a gorgeous first day and evening at Woodcraft. Summer campers and counselors had fun touring their home away from home and getting to know each other during initiative games. Swim tests and a 2021 camp favorite game of “Ship to Shore!” filled up the rest of the afternoon. (Parents, try calling out “HIT THE DECK!” or “birdie on a perch!” or “captain’s coming!” when the kids get back and see what happens! It could be a hilarious way to wake up your campers at home:) After a yummy pasta & salad bar dinner followed by ice cream sundaes, we made our way down the path to a crackling campfire where new and old campers entertained us with skits, songs, and stories. What a great night! Everyone was back at home at their cabins with their new friends well before taps blew. If you happened to peek out at the moon, it was big and bright!
Activities like boating (with tip tests), rock wall, archery, OLS, nature, fishing, ropes, A-field, riflery, mountain biking and zip have been filled with campers trying new skills and having a ton of fun doing so. Yesterday's particularly beautiful Adirondack evening drew many cabins to the waterfront for jumping, diving, swimming, and water polo while other cabins participated in a highly competitive game of spoons!
Sunny, camp’s Golden Retriever, has been busy collecting handshakes, pets and belly rubs from all of her campers and she’s happy to tell you that we have a really happy bunch together here. She says she’ll take a quick rest tomorrow while campers head out on a trip to enjoy Woodcraft's beautiful surroundings. We’ll report back about those trips soon!
