Summer Camp Update!

Woodcrafters, how can it be the middle of the last week of first session?! This last week was filled with the very exciting Woodcup where teams competed for the ULTIMATE soccer trophy. There was fancy footwork, massive kicks, loud cheering, almost-pro refereeing, and many happy and tired Woodcrafters after a full day of fun. Showers were most definitely in order and sleep was sound until first bugle the next day!
In other news around camp, flannel Fridays and Whacky Wednesdays are grabbing hold on the fashion front. Activities are bustling! This week’s 5th period choices included some interesting new choices like Ultimate Frisbee, Arts & Farts (was that a typo?!), Songs, Mountain Biking to Little Safford Pond, Hike Bald, and of course old favorites like Archery, Swim, Nature, A-field, Rock Wall, Fishing, VBT, and Riflery.
Woodcraft Trips have been rocking! As we speak, our campers are out on or returning from canoe, hiking and biking trips to Lake Lila, Mt. Colvin, Blue Mountain Lake, Castle Rock, Fern Park and our local Tobie trails. A combo of Auroras & Trail Campers hiked the Santanoni range and a number of Rangers summited Whiteface & Esther this past week. Rain? Yep. Clouds? Yep. Sun? A bit! Awesome job? Yep!! The Outpost & IV crew really ramped up the excitement for their age group with some exciting mountain biking at McCauley. Afterward they hiked in to their camping spot at Moss Lake for their overnight adventure. The Hadarondahs & Wenonahs took an awesome two night trip to OK Slip Falls where the over 200 foot waterfall was made even more dramatic by the recent rainwater.
